Defence Day of Pakistan, also known as “Youm-e-Difa,” is celebrated on September 6th every year in Pakistan. It commemorates the sacrifices and bravery of the Pakistani armed forces and the people of Pakistan during the 1965 war between Pakistan and India. This war, also known as the Second Kashmir War, was a significant conflict between the two neighboring countries.
The 1965 war began on September 6, 1965, when Indian forces crossed the international border and launched an attack on Pakistan. Pakistan’s military and civilians responded with great courage and determination to defend their country. The conflict lasted for 17 days and resulted in a ceasefire brokered by the Soviet Union and the United States.
On Defence Day, various events and ceremonies are held across Pakistan to pay tribute to the soldiers who gave their lives to protect the nation and to honor the resilience of the Pakistani people. These events include flag-raising ceremonies, military parades, special prayers, and wreath-laying ceremonies at the graves of martyrs. Patriotic songs and documentaries are also broadcast on television and radio to remind the nation of the sacrifices made for the country’s defense.
Defence Day serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity. It is a day to reflect on the importance of a strong and well-prepared defense and to remember the sacrifices made by the armed forces and civilians in the defense of the nation.
1965 کی جنگ کا آغاز 6 ستمبر 1965 کو ہوا جب ہندوستانی افواج نے بین الاقوامی سرحد عبور کر کے پاکستان پر حملہ کیا۔ پاکستان کی فوج اور سویلینز نے اپنے ملک کے دفاع کے لیے بڑی ہمت اور عزم کے ساتھ جواب دیا۔ یہ تنازعہ 17 دن تک جاری رہا اور اس کے نتیجے میں سوویت یونین اور امریکہ کی ثالثی میں جنگ بندی ہوئی۔
یوم دفاع کے موقع پر پاکستان بھر میں مختلف تقریبات اور تقاریب کا انعقاد کیا جاتا ہے جس میں ان سپاہیوں کو خراج تحسین پیش کیا جاتا ہے جنہوں نے قوم کی حفاظت کے لیے اپنی جانیں قربان کیں اور پاکستانی عوام کی لچک کا احترام کیا۔ ان تقریبات میں پرچم کشائی کی تقریبات، فوجی پریڈ، خصوصی دعائیں اور شہداء کی قبروں پر پھولوں کی چادر چڑھانے کی تقریبات شامل ہیں۔ ملک کے دفاع کے لیے دی گئی قربانیوں کو قوم کو یاد دلانے کے لیے ٹیلی ویژن اور ریڈیو پر حب الوطنی کے گیت اور دستاویزی فلمیں بھی نشر کی جاتی ہیں۔
یوم دفاع پاکستان کی خودمختاری اور علاقائی سالمیت کے تحفظ کے عزم کی یاد دہانی کے طور پر کام کرتا ہے۔ یہ ایک مضبوط اور اچھی طرح سے تیار دفاع کی اہمیت پر غور کرنے اور قوم کے دفاع میں مسلح افواج اور شہریوں کی قربانیوں کو یاد کرنے کا دن ہے
